"We were very well received by Juan and Ana who went out of their way to accede to our requests and in the kindest way possible; the bungalows are very comfortable, the breakfasts are perfect and the restaurants nearby (our hosts even offer to make the reservation); all this in a magnificent setting, surrounded by nature! Of course, it deserves, and at the end of the road a little complicated to access the lodge, you will only appreciate the tranquility of the place better. Only one small flat but which did not affect my rating of 5, the Teribe bungalow drawn (we were a family of 3 couples) was worse than the other 2 ... "

"Unquestionably our most beautiful lodge (Le Brunka) Decoration and comfort await you. We visited this place during a very special period of Covid 19 pandemic in total stress not knowing if we would have a plane back, on what date ........... Juan and Ana were extremely available and kind, they lent us their phone for all the many phone calls we had to make, exceptionally lent us their facilities to allow us (another French couple and ourselves) to dine on the spot, called everywhere to find us open restaurants, in summary they were up to the situation: Competent, charming and welcoming. Go there with your eyes closed."

"This small lodge is full of big attributes. It is cozy, warm, comfortable, airy, bright and exciting. On this my second visit to the place the congos (monkeys) and the chicharras kept a symphony of sounds that made you feel in the middle of the jungle. The pool is warm and delicious. Ana and Juan are so willing to make you feel at home and they certainly do! Breakfast includes everything fresh, eggs, fruit, bread and coffee. An unforgettable experience you will want to repeat!"

"I am not apt to writing reviews, but this experience warrants it. This place was absolutely FANTASTIC!! Juan, the proprietor was above and beyond in hospitality and kindness. The location was amazing, nestled in the jungle with unimpeded views. The facilities were incredible! Outdoor shower and a king sized bed which overlooked the jungle. Breakfast was the best food we ate the whole trip. The produce was exceptional and well sourced: bananas that tasted like tropical fruit, mangoes that were the most flavorful I have ever experienced. This place is a reason in and of itself to visit Costa Rica!"

"We spent 3 nights in this beautiful lodge. Super modern design and to our taste. Outdoor shower for the more daring and night to the sounds of the jungle. Everything is very clean and well thought out. The breakfast is different every day and the decoration is neat. Juan is a very attentive and attentive host. He told us what to discover in the area and we were not disappointed. We highly recommend!"

"The lodge is a very special and magical place. The room is super nice with great design and a lot of taste. From the bed you have a great view of the rainforest, which you can enjoy especially when it rains. The owners are extremely hospitable and have lots of good tips for things to do. They were very helpful when our car broke down and gave us great support. Another highlight is the breakfast, we were served a different delicacy every morning. The whole area is well maintained and the small pool offers a wonderful refreshment in between. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back. It is better to drive to the lodge in daylight for the first time."
"We really enjoyed our two night stay at Yaba Chigui. Ana and Juan, the Costa Rican couple who live and run the B&B, are very warm and welcoming hosts. They really made us feel at home, and gave us great tips for how to spend our time in the area, including a highlight visit to the Whale's Tail at sunset. We stayed in the Cabecar room which was lovely. It has a modern, intelligent design with a clever use of space, and the room always felt light and airy despite the humid environment. The bed was enormous and comfy, and it faced the wide windows overlooking the forest and river below. Such a nice view to wake up to! Our room also featured both an indoor (hot) shower, an outdoor shower and a balcony. We had space to hang our clothes, and a hairdryer. The breakfasts were delicious. One day we had a Mexican style egg dish with homemade tortilla, sunny side up eggs and different sauces. The next day we had an Indian-Costa Rican fusion version of Chapati bread with delicious raita yoghurt. Juan also went to the effort of explaining the dishes which added a nice personal touch. Plus, each day we had fresh fruits, juice and delicious European style bread with jam. The pool has salt water instead of chlorine which is much better for the skin. I loved having an evening swim in the pool - very calming, and the water had been warmed by the sun throughout the day so it was a very pleasant temperature. Highly recommend for a couple!"

"Ana and Juan are a lovely couple that have built a little piece of heaven and are very happy to share it with their guests!
We greatly appreciated that the family is highly dedicated to sustainable tourism. Our cabin was beautifully designed and very welcoming. Everything was perfect down to the smallest details. We loved having the view of the nearby creek from our bed and going to sleep with the sound of water.
The breakfasts at Yaba Chigui were a delight! Each morning brought a new delicious surprise. Juan and Ana also offered us valuable information about the available activities in the area depending on the time of day, tides and weather conditions and spared no effort to make our stay perfect. Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience!"

It also has a small walkway with seating. Shower is wonderful with a view of the jungle. Separate toilet and an outdoor shower. Coffee maker and kettle available as well as wine glasses and opener. There are also towels for the beach and swimming pool and a cool box. The swimming pool is filled with salt water. Delicious breakfast. Incredibly attentive and nice owners."
"Schitterende huisjes"

Heerlijk ontbijt. "Excellent, smart and environmentally friendly design. Cozy. The staff is so kind and friendly. Always concern about giving you the best experience from its property. Very good location. Quiet but full of forest experience, sounds, and scenery."
"What can we say? We love this place! The lodge is so unique - it was designed by architects to be efficient and work with the land around it. You get your own little building, most with a private deck and outdoor shower - and it backs to a jungle with a stream so you can hear the sounds of nature all day and all night long. We never did get to see any monkeys during our stay, but we hear they are nearby. The best part of the Yabà Chiguì are the hosts - Juan and Ana are just wonderful. We loved chatting with them and they will go above and beyond in order to help you or give you advice. They speak impeccable English. They arranged for a massage for my husband and I (it was wonderful) and Ana even gave up her scheduled massage so we could have her spot! Breakfast is always delicious with lots of fresh, local fruits and a freshly cooked entree. The room was clean, well maintained, and very comfortable. The bed was great - a bit on the firm side, but that pleased my husband. One word of warning - the last bit of the drive to this place is quite a rugged dirt road. I would not advise attempting it in a vehicle without good clearance. We felt like Indiana Jones driving up and down those hills to get to town."

"We have the Yaba Chigui Lodge recommended by our tour operator. In this excellently well-maintained complex, the hosts whose name Juan and Ana are, if we have researched this correctly, must especially emphasize. The system indicates in each fiber that it is led with great attention to detail. The lodges all have a direct connection to the jungle beyond. Although we found the Rämlichkeiten a bit cramped, but they were very nicely decorated, including fridge, outdoor shower and a sitting outside directly on the jungle. The individually prepared breakfast was one of the best breakfasts we had in Costa Rica."

"We had a great stay at Yaba Chigui! The lodge is situated up a hill and on the edge of the jungle. Monkeys and sloths were spotted. A wonderful fresh breakfast is served every morning. Ana and Juan were great hosts and will help in anyway possible. I needed to see a doctor on the second day. Juan and Ana did everything possible to find and give directions to a small office in Uvita. Thank you!!!"

"You won’t find a better place to stay in Costa Rica. The days start with an amazing homemade balanced breakfast that’s different every day. Juan and Ana can tell you the best places to visit and the restaurants in the area are incredible. We loved Heliconia, Aracari (take a walk down to Arco beach after lunch), and Citrus for fresh seafood that will make your taste buds explode with delight. We were visited by monkeys, toucans and blue morphos . The rooms don’t have AC but are vented very well with great fans that made us want to throw on an extra blanket at night. If you get too warm enjoy the refreshing pool. Every detail is clean, extremely well kept and environmentally friendly. Of all places in CR, Ojochal is our favorite and you will feel at home in Yaba Chigui. It will be very hard to find a better AirBnB and impossible to find better at this price."
"My wife and I stayed at Yaba Chigui lodge for 3 nights. The hosts Juan and Ana are just wonderful and are a great help when looking for restaurant recommendations or places to visit. Breakfast is fantastic. Everything freshly prepared. The bungalow was well appointed with an indoor and outdoor shower, fridge etc, and the fastest WiFi we experienced in Costa Rica. The room overlooked the jungle and you really felt close to nature."

"Long and twisting way up from the main road. This requires your own car to get to beaches, restaurants, etc. Great architecture and a fantastic host nevertheless saves this. The four rooms / cottages are very elegant with a double bed facing the jungle and a separate "jetty" of a veranda facing the forest. Very original. Lovely breakfast! The place is run by a retired couple, his former diplomat, her agricultural researcher with a doctorate from England. Linguistic and knowledgeable. They really wanted us the very best. The place can be recommended, not least because of Juan and Ana.
Room tip: This does not matter. The rooms are angled so no one has access to the others."

"We lucked out at finding this place. A Morpho Butterfly just flew by us. The lay out is so nice. The hosts Ana and Juan are as good as it gets. The jungle is with you here. We just wish we had more time allotted for our stay. Nicest place I have stayed at in my travels in Costa Rica. Amazing breakfast also. This is a quiet place that warrants a future stay. To wake up with the jungle view here is perfect. The privacy of the bungalows and a private deck is top notch. Great pool too. One of the most thought out designs we have seen. We will be back!"

"We were in the low season, were received very nice and perfectly taken care of. The bungalows are very nice under tall trees. On the one side the river is on the other side a small pool, which we also liked to use. The architecture of the plant is impressively beautiful. "Sehr gastfreundlich"
"Wir waren in der Nebensaison unterwegs, wurden sehr nett empfangen und perfekt umsorgt. Die Bungalows liegen sehr schön unter hohen Bäumen. Auf der einen Seite liegt der Fluß auf der anderen Seite ein kleiner Pool, den wir auch gerne genutzt haben. Die Architektur der Anlage ist beeindruckend schön. "The lodge is right by the forest on a river. The architecture of the houses is unique and well thought out and in harmony with nature. The hosts Ana and Juan are unlikely friendly, accommodating and always eager to make you feel good. The decor of the lodge is just as perfect. There is nothing missing. Juan even has a book of local restaurants including menus and prices so you can make a choice before you go. Also worthy of note is the helpfulness, which we had to use. And not to mention the cleanliness in the rooms and everywhere on the property. Many thanks to Ana and Juan, we will like to think back to the time with you."
"We spent two nights at the Yaba Chigui Lodge and we wish we could stay longer. Juan and Ana were incredible hosts. We were greeted like family upon an evening arrival and Juan made sure we had everything we needed for the night. He even brought us a bottle of wine and candles to enjoy our first night!!!
The room was spectacular!! We woke to the howler monkeys right outside our room. We sat outside on the private deck and watched them all morning.
Breakfast was spectacular with fresh fruit, juice, bread and eggs with beans and rice (exactly what we said we liked!)
We were given so much information about restaurants and local attractions. We had dinner at Mamma and Pappa Italian Resturant very close by and it was quiet and delicious food.
The next day we stayed in the room as we wanted to enjoy the spectacular view of the rainforest. I had a massage that was one of the best I have had. Perfect view and tranquil setting. Our only regret is that we did not book longer."

"The Yabá Chiguí Lodge was our first stop! We felt very comfortable with Juan and Ana IMMEDIATELY. The new bungalows are very stylish. From the bed you have a wonderful view of the forest. The breakfast is sensational and lovingly prepared by Juan. Juan and Ana are the most charming, friendly and helpful hosts we've ever met. They offered to throw our wet clothes in the dryer, took care of our wet hiking boots, and called in our next accommodation to see if we arrived safely. We felt very welcome and at home. If we go back to Costa Rica, then always to Juan and Ana. Best regards to Costa Rica from Nina and Roland."

"The Yaba Chigui Lodge is exceptional. During our two week vacation to Costa Rica, my husband booked us three nights here. I was stunned by the darling property and our lovely little bungalow facing the rainforest.
Service The hosts were wonderful! They helped us plan a variety of activities including a scuba diving excursion and a tour of Corcovado. They also recommended some yummy local restaurants that were close by - including Citrus, which was incredible (they even had Vegan ice-cream). The host family is delightful; they are all so sweet and kind. Service was outstanding!
Value A tremendous value and we would absolutely stay here again. The property is lovely and looks brand new. Accommodations The bungalow was incredible; it had everything you would need and more! You can tell just by stepping inside that they gave the construction a lot of thought. There are many windows and even an outdoor shower. The bed faces the forest and it is very calming to hear the stream rushing by. The bungalow was spotless and we felt very comfortable there.
Food Oh my word. The breakfasts were amazing! I am eating a plant-based diet and the owners graciously accommodated my needs. Fresh pressed coffee and juice was a staple in the morning, including an array of delicious local fruit. We went in town for lunches and dinners, as the site does not have a restaurant. This worked out well as many days we were offsite on excursions.
Yaba Chigi is a must if you are staying near Univta or in Ojochal!"

Breakfast was delicious and the owners are easily reached for advice on what to do, where to eat and to assist in making any reservations. We were very happy with our stay."

"A modern architectural surprise. This was my third visit to Costa Rica and the best place I have stayed. Beautiful setting with private room walk out to the jungle. I would describe the hotel as a boutique B&B with plenary of privacy, amazing views, super breakfast and amazing hosts who were clearly inspired to build something very special. The hosts’ passion is evident in every detail from the rooms luxurious finishes to landscaping and wilderness setting. There are many of the best restaurants in Costa Rica within abou 1 km of the hotel."
"My wife Sandra and I are colleagues of Yaba Chigui because we also have a hotel called Lirio Lodge on the Tortuguero canals and we wanted to stay in a similar place in the central pacific, that is, to have contact with nature, very quiet, good food and of course good service, Yaba Chigui was recommended to us and the place exceeded all our expectations, we were welcomed as family by Juan and Ana, their owners, there are no words to describe how well we had it, to the point that we want to return with our children and grandchildren. I recommend it to anyone, it is a beautiful place and you can see the love that its owners who live at the hotel."

"We spent three nights in 2017 in the Yaba Chigui Lodge in October and met a perfect hospitality in time. The comfortable bungalows are very bright, modern and completely thought out. In addition to a great plumbing these are the jungle-facing bed and the "jungle balcony" the absolute highlight. The host couple Ana and Juan are to have arrived you feel really good. They host their guests with great attention to detail and a delicious - changing daily - breakfast!"

"If you want to know the area of Uvita, the Ballena Marine Park and at the same time rest while in contact with nature, this is the ideal place. Small hotel full of beautiful details. Don Juan and Dona Ana, the owners, are excellent hosts and make the stay really enjoyable. We stayed three nights and sleep lulled by the sound of the nearby ravine as well as waking up with the vegetation of the area as background scenery, it was a fantastic experience."

"Excellent place, more than recommended! You feel like home and the bungalows are amazing."
"I came with my three children and we all want to go back! The property is beautiful. The rooms are amazing. The breakfast - so so good. The hosts were so very sweet with suggestions and were so lovely with my young children. My daughter said she reminded her of her own abuela. Go outside in the evening and be absolutely intoxicated by the ylang ylang tree. Learn about the indigenous people of Costa Rica. I love that this treasure is owned by ticos who love their country and want to share it with those of us unfortunate enough to live elsewhere.
If your single, a couple, or a family. This is a perfect spot away from the tourists and crowds. Nestled away on a river.
We explored osa, cano island, the whale tail, waterfalls and more. We saw all the species of monkeys in CR, scarlet macaws, humpback whales (and heard them too), two species of sea turtles, a wild jaguarundi and more.
Be adventurous and explore. Or hang out at the lodge all day. You can't lose.
We can't wait to be back."

"this bungalow style B&B is absolutely amazing. the entire experience was just what i wanted! the bungalow itself was very clean, well stocked and very comfortable; the patio & outdoor shower were fantastic and the view to the forest & stream took my breath away. the grounds are elegantly landscaped with wonderful and bountiful foliage. the pool is pristine and a great place to dip! the breakfasts were fabulous; different everyday! the attention to detail in the property itself is impeccable. to top it all off, Juan & Ana are the most kind & incredible hosts i have ever met. they are absolutely wonderful people and made my stay 110% amazing. this is the most beautiful place to visit; whether you come to explore the area or come to relax the days away beside the gentle forest stream babbling away... you will find everything you are looking for and more at Yaba Chigui! "Its location away from the bustle, the elegant architecture of its newly constructed buildings, the spacious and comfortable bed and made to rest lulled by the sounds of the forest and waking marveled at the view and the feeling of being suspended between trees. The attentions of their owners and hosts both the income and the breakfast made me feel welcome and accepted at all times. The organic breakfast and homemade flavors and aromas and carrying India, was exquisite. What I liked most was its avant-garde architectural design and ecologically integrated forest. Spending the night with my partner in Yaba Chigui was a unique experience."

"This place is one of the best places i have stayed in costa rica. The bungalows have been thoroughly planned. Bed most comfortable ever. View and wildlife from your bed are amazing. Outdoor and indoor shower. I stuck to the outdoor. What makes this place so even more special is the lovely costa rican family that own it. They are retired and just want to welcome you to their amazing country. The breakfasts...wow. Best i have ever had in cr. Juices so refreshing. Everthing is very high quality. Beautiful area to walk and explore. Waterfall you can walk to for the not lazy ...that is amazing. Recommendations given to all the nearby sights. Do go to el castillo to see the sun go down. The view is amazing. This family are very special people. You are getting much more than just your stay...really and truely. Many places just go through the motions of welcoming you. Not here. "Yaba Chigui is a truly a special place owned by 2 very special people. Our family stayed in 2 of the 4 bungalows for several nights at the end of our Costa Rica vacation. The spot is idyllic as others have said. You are in the jungle and can hear it's musical sounds at night and in the mornings. The rooms (and showers) overlooking the jungle are lovely. Ana and Juan are truly excited to share their knowledge of the area and help you get the most of your experience there. They provided tips on best beaches, excursions and also helped us with our dinner reservations. The breakfasts provided at Yaba Chigui were fresh and delicious. The restaurants in the little village of Ojochal are the best dining we had during our vacation. One small detail is that yes, you should be self driving as a guest here to access the area. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Yaba Chigui to anyone!"

"Home. There is not one thing I can honestly say I 'disliked' about this place. Juan and Ana are like family. They are so kind and gracious. Willing to help you plan your day and give you all the best tips; whether you're looking for something more 'touristy' or to be more immersed in the culture, they are the tour guides you would want. Every single recommendation was spot on, from the food to the activities in the area. The food. Oh my gosh, the food! So many wonderful places. Depending on what you are looking for, just ask, you will not be disappointed which ever direction they steer you. The breakfast that was included every day was probably my favorite. Home cooked, authentic. Those morning times were so nice. Nice to start planning the day. Juan always made us extra coffee, we could not get enough of those Costa Rican beans!!! That was also the time we would go over what we did the day before with Ana... she was always genuinely excited to hear about our adventures. Meeting Juan and Ana was the best thing we did on our trip. We even ran in to them "out on the town" and we were greeted with warm hugs and smiles. Again they were curious to hear how the rest of our trip was going even though we had changed locations. We hope to go back for a visit. This is a place we will never forget and that is mostly in part to the people that were a part of it. THANK YOU!!!"

"Yaba Chigui is the perfect place to stay for those who are self-driving around Costa Rica and want to avoid the international style tourist hotels. We stayed in Cabecar, which is stylishly decorated, has natural air flow through the meshed windows, and a raised bed so that you wake up to an unimpeded view of the jungle (sometimes the immediate area is lit at night - so romantic to sit out on the veranda which juts out towards the jungle and overlooks the small river). We slept very well, lulled to sleep by the croaking frogs and gently woken by distant howler monkeys. The unusual architect-designed breakfast building overlooking the refreshing pool was inspired by the dwellings of the Borucas (indigenous people). Ojochal (less than a 5 minute drive away from Yaba Chigui) has a number of very good restaurants, so although Ana and Juan provide only extremely delicious and varied breakfasts (the spinach, orange and basil smoothie was a revelation), sourcing a good dinner is really easy. Juan and Anna have extensive local knowledge and can direct you to a nearby waterfall for a "natural massage", the best beaches, and the impressive archaeological museum of Indigenous culture (Diquis region). Given also that there were no mosquitos there this February (and I would have found them if there were) this was paradise."
Room Tip: Ask for a room with an outside shower and a good view of the jungle - we liked Cabecar

"A pure moment of calm and happiness! We had the pleasure of staying 3 nights in this little nest, surrounded by nature, with wonderful hosts. The rooms are beautiful bungalows on stilts, with a terrace facing the rainforest and the river. The only sounds we could hear: the singing of the birds and the howling of the monkeys !!! What a change of scenery, how calm !!! We slept wonderfully in our room, top comfort with two showers, one inside and one outside, amazing !!! And how do I begin to tell you about Ana and Juan .... people of such kindness !!! They recommended the best places, beaches and restaurants in the area. They really spoiled us! An exceptional couple! We were also able to witness, thanks again to Ana and Juan, the most beautiful sunsets … (but I will say no more …it’s up to you to discover the rest !!!) In short, we highly recommend this little paradise and we will surely come back soon!!!!! Pura Vida !!!!!"

"I continued to the west coast of Costa Rica for a completely different experience at Yabá Chiguí Lodge after spending three nights at Tortuga Lodge. I opted for a rental car for this leg of the trip, and I have to say that driving in Costa Rica is not for the faint of heart. I highly recommend a 4-wheel drive car. After a drive up a mountain that got my adrenaline pumping, I pulled into the lodge and immediately fell in love with this charming and unique lodge that seems to appear out of nowhere in this secluded area.
Yabá Chiguí Lodge is a bed and breakfast that opened in the spring of 2016. It is the passion project of Ana Mercedes Espinoza and Juan Fernando Cordero, who wished to be an original lodging alternative, an example of environmental sustainability, and to contribute to the sociocultural development of the region. The property consists of four bungalows, three with a single king bed, and one with a king bed and queen trundle bed. The bungalows are breathtaking, with floor to ceiling windows looking out over the rainforest and stream.
As with many properties in Costa Rica, bungalows do not include air conditioning or televisions, which were amenities I didn’t miss. Limited WiFi is available in all rooms and common areas. The property was designed with maximum sustainability in mind. The main lodge is the centerpiece of the small property with a modern design inspired by the circular houses of the indigenous people of the area. Yabá Chiguí’s four bungalows are also designed in a modern style while still keeping environmental impact at a minimum. All rooms have screens encircling the top of the walls, keeping the temperature surprisingly cool even on the warmest days.
Another delightful addition was the floor to ceiling window in the shower, giving the illusion of floating over the forest. The property is designed so it is impossible for other guests to see into the window (no guarantees about the wildlife), but a curtain is also included for the modest. Each room also includes an outdoor deck with a table and chair, which is where I spent most evenings. The bungalows surround the pool, small massage room, hammock area, and common area for enjoying meals and games on rainy days. This configuration keeps the property compact and easily accessible.
Yabá Chiguí operated under a bed and breakfast system, so guests will make arrangements for lunch and dinner. Breakfasts were phenomenal, consisting of huevos rancheros, a plethora of the freshest fruit I’ve ever seen, fresh juices, and bread from a local French baker. There are many dining options in the area, and the owners are more than happy to recommend local restaurants and make the reservations for you. With the endorsement of Ana and Juan, I enjoyed a wonderful French fusion dinner at Citrus, about ten minutes from the lodge and popular among locals. I was most impressed by the owner of this restaurant. She made sure to visit each table individually to make sure guests were satisfied, and I heard her converse in at least four languages. I highly recommend Citrus to anyone in the Ojochal area."
"Yaba Chigui Lodge was a fantastic place to stay. But the greatest value was the hosts themselves. Juan and Ana are such wonderful people. Every morning they served us a tasty healthy breakfast, then we continued with great conversation. I would never stay anywhere else in Ojochal. Will definitely be going back. Respond Share with your staff."

"Yaba Chigui is a delightful, boutique bnb with wonderful hosts! They were immensely helpful and so friendly. Breakfasts were a delight- watching sloths in the trees over delish food in the mountains cant be beat. Waking up to the sound of the stream running through the property and the views of the forests made it hard to get out of bed but there is so much to do within a short distance. Great variety of beaches, waterfalls, and the Boruca village is ~45 minute drive away. Highly recommend this place and hope to return someday!"

"We had the best stay at Yaba Chigui! It is tucked away in a beautiful spot, rooms overlook the jungle. Toucans, scarlet macaws and even a sloth were seen! Every little detail was thought of. Breakfasts were AMAZING! Hosts Ana and Juan are so kind, and genuinely want everyone to have the best stay, offering lots of great advice on where to visit and what to see. Definitely a great spot to get away and RELAX!"

There are many ways to describe Yaba Chigui, but I think there are three words that match "Lovely", "Authentic", "Details". For more you see pictures on the internet you cannot imagine who will find an oasis of tranquility, where nature and harmony meet. The rooms are designed to feel and experience nature, its windows overlooking the forest and the sounds of the nearby river envelop in tranquility, its bathrooms one overlooking the forest and the other outdoor are amazing. The attention from Ana and Juan cannot be compared, charming, kind persons, detail orientes, one could talk with them all day, always outstanding. A place that anyone seeking tranquility and get away from the normal hotels should visit.

"Perched on the hills of Ojochal, Yaba Chigui Lodge is perfect for those seeking tranquility. The overwater bungalows have every comfort (toilet, shower, bathroom, giant bed, fridge ...). A Yaba Chigui, it is possible to wake up to the sounds of local wildlife (monkeys, toucans ...) to take a shower before nature take its Costa Rican coffee on a giant pontoon while keeping privacy! Breakfast is local, delicious and varied (it changes daily).
The hosts, Doña Ana and Don Juan are very attentive to our needs. They know the area and can provide lots of tips and tricks to prepare the trip. The hotel is located 10 minutes from the nearest beach, but it is possible to enjoy the pool at the hotel. In short, if I have the chance to return to Costa Rica, Yaba Chigui will be my first stop. I highly, highly recommend!"

"I stayed at the lodge with my girlfriend a few weeks ago, it is a very difficult place to describe because it is unique, the design of the cabins, the location and the area make the lodge a place you do not expect and surprising in the best way . The attention from Sofia, Dona Ana and Don Juan make you feel at home and a place you do not wish to leave. The area is a paradise for lovers of gastronomy and the lodge also offers a delicious breakfast, there are many easy to access and clean beaches, since they are part of the park Marino Ballena. "A friend and I stayed for two weeks at the Yabá Chiguí Lodge, but it took us only two seconds to realize, that we had made the best decision. Located in the small village Ojochal, away from the tourist overflow, the lodge is surrounded by beautiful rain forest, close to the Pacific Ocean and a great starting point for many tours to explore Costa Rica.
The lodge consists out of four cabins, named after different languages of the native Costa Ricans. We stayed in Maleku, a cabin including a panorama view into the jungle from the bed, being woken up in the morning by the sound of monkeys and parrots, followed by a delicious breakfast with lots of mango and Gallo Pinto. Absolutely fantastic! One of our favorite architectural features was the outdoor shower (We never used the indoor shower…ever!).
The owners of the lodge, Doña Ana and Don Juan, are unquestionably the nicest and most obliging hosts anybody could ask for. Together with their daughter Sofía they can offer and unlimited flow of ideas for tours, trips and hidden treasures around the area! Make sure to check out the Nauyaca waterfalls, do some surfing in Dominical, go for a scuba dive around Isla del Caño and check out the numerous beautiful beaches nearby! We clearly found paradise and can’t wait to come back! Thank you Yabá Chiguí Lodge!"

"Yaba Chigui Lodge is located off the beaten path, isolated in the jungle near the town of Ojochal on Costa Rica’s southern Osa Peninsula. It is totally modern, opening in 2016, and was constructed by architects with a reputation for maintaining environmental sustainability. With four bungalows, beautifully landscaped gardens and a pool, Yaba Chigui is small and private.
Our family traveled to Costa Rica and wanted to experience nature away from city noises and preferably away from fellow tourists. We found a haven at Yaba Chigui. We hired a driver which eliminated a great deal of stress. He drove us to sites recommended by the owners, Juan Fernando Cordero, a retired diplomat, and wife, Dr. Ana Espinoza. Spectacular day trips were: Playa Ventanas, Playa Pinuela, Playa Tortuga and the waterfalls of Ojochal. Excellent nearby restaurants with spectacular lookouts were Hotel El Castillo, Hotel Lookout, Hotel Vista Ballena and restaurant La Parcela, in Dominical. If you can catch the Cola de la Ballena (Whale's tail) at Uvita Marine National Park, which only appears at low tide, you will view one of nature’s incredible marvels.
If not, do like we did. Sit and sip coffee from the long, narrow balcony porch of Yaba Chigui bungalows or lay in the bed under a cooling ceiling fan and look through its large windows to marvel and listen to the surrounding jungle and its rain and feel peace.
Yaba Chigui is highly recommended for those seeking privacy. The adventurous can drive on their own. Use the software app WAZE to help maneuver the mountain curves. If possible, secure a driver to help you find its nearby ecological treasures. The lodge provides a delicious breakfast daily. The town of Ojochal offers a number of excellent restaurants and even a French owned bakery."
